11. Thermal Properties
Samples of non-metallic and composite conduits must be checked by the application of a flame of 1kW (Bunsen Burner – EN 60695-2-4/1).
A conduit sample, (675 ± 10) mm long, is placed vertically in the apparatus shown in (Figure 3).
The test is carried out on 3 samples. The flame is applied to the samples according to the above Table and then it is removed. The sample is considered to have passed the test if it is not ignited.
The sample is considered to have passed the test when it is burned or ruined without being burned and when after the burning has stopped, there is no indication of burning or scorching within 50 mm of the upper and lower ends of the clamps. If the sample is burned, it must be considered to have failed the test if the burning continues 30 sec after the removal of the flame. If the paper tissue under the sample is ignited, the sample must be considered to have failed the test.
